McLennan County Collaborative Abstinence Project (McCAP), a nonprofit organization, was established in 1997 as a grassroots effort to educate the public that all risky behaviors are interconnected.

McCAP has expanded its focus to include all five health-risk behaviors (drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, tobacco) in an effort to help youth choose responsible choices and avoid dangerous health detours.

Research has shown that today youth wish to choose productive paths to well-adjusted lives where their full potential can be realized.

Education programs are provided in partnerships with local schools, businesses, faith-based organizations, health care facilities, and community groups.

McCAP's mission is to empower young people to make healthy choices. The primary goal of McCAP is to reduce negative risk behaviors and thus improve health outcomes among adolescents.
